Canterbury Rogaine Series

Coopers Creek

27 August 2011

Thank you to more than 180 competitors who took part in the first event of the Canterbury Rogaine Series held at Coopers Creek on 27 August 2011. The weather was sunny and warm, with very little snow from earlier in the week still left on course. As an organiser it was great to receive positive feedback about an event in a new area, with not-so-typical navigation through native bush.

Top score on the day went to Joe and Tane, clocking the course with just three minutes to spare. Following the event they confessed to making a few mistakes in the bush with Joe saying, “We bashed through, but we really should have gone around!”

From the split times it was clear that a number of teams, including Joe and Tane, missed the cut through the bush from the Link Track to control number 49. Many continued along only to reach the intersection with the Wharfdale Track.

Thank you for the courtesy of the many landowners who allowed us to use their land for the event, especially Betty from Coopers Creek and the team at Woodside Forest.
